Welcome to the Bristol & District Tranquilliser Project

Our helpline is open Monday to Thursday 10am to 3pm.

The Project helps those having problems with certain prescribed psychotropic medication (benzodiazepine tranquillisers/sleeping tablets, other sleeping tablets & antidepressants). We help people who are taking, who are considering taking or have recently withdrawn from this medication. We also support friends & family of those having problems with their medications.

Notice of Charity closure

We have been informed that the Bristol North Somerset South Gloucester Integrated Care Board (BNSSG ICB) will not be renewing our contract 2023/24 and is giving the charity notice of closure.

There have been reviews and consultations of all NHS contracts held by the voluntary sector organisations. Our commissioners are rationalising contracts with local providers including where there are existing alternative services available, through local Council commissioned services or General Practitioners.

The charity will continue to provide a service throughout the notice period. The date of service closure is the 30th September 2023. Please do contact us and continue to call us, we will do what we can to support you over the next few months.

The alternative provider to contact for support after 30th September 2023:
Postscript 360
Telephone Support Line: 0117 9663629 open from 10am to 4pm
Email: [email protected]
Address: PostScript360, 1st Floor, East Wing, The Kingswood Estate, Britannia Road, Kingswood, Bristol, BS15 8DP.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those who have donated and supported us. Over the many years we have operated, we have helped thousands of people through probably one of the most distressing times of their lives to withdraw from their medication, many of whom go on to make a full recovery. There is much need for support in this area and we hope that the alternative providers will continue to provide this to both our existing clients and the many more yet to ask for help in the future. It has been with a heavy heart that I write this and that BTP will close its doors.

We are aware that this notice may cause much distress, especially for those still accessing our service and who are familiar with our support staff. Please do call us and we will do what we can to support you.
